Leaving for the airport in a couple of hours. Finally packed. Everything is in order. First stop is the grandparents down in Boca. One of the cats, the one I’m closest with can tell what’s going on. She’s been following me through every room of the house, up and down the stairs. There’s been no finality before I head out, which is kind of surreal. I haven’t seen a lot of people I would have liked to. Friends and family keep reminding me not to miss them and look forward to the friends I’ll be visiting and the new ones I’ll be meeting for the first time. I know I overpacked which is going to make camping a pain in the ass. Maybe I can leave some stuff in Florida to send back to my parents.
Just broke in the bike, or should I say the bike broke me in. This was my first go at it in a loooong time..
What can I say about my neighborhood that I haven’t already? Where else can you soar toward this place:

with the sound of the water hitting rocks in one ear, a highway in the other and the wind everywhere (especially through the hair I’m growing out!)??
There were wedding photos being taken on top of a limo, a bird that soared over the water alongside me for a good 5 minutes, beautiful dogs, picnics, happy couples, the sun, suicidal pigeons dive bombing in front of my tires, swarms of gnats (I’m pretty sure I may have eaten some.. okay.. more than pretty sure.. does this make me a bad Buddhist?), skateboarders, massive hills in parks that I almost cried going up, half-pipes, beautiful skies.
I wrote a Yelp Review about the bike shop as well. So satisfied with their work:
What an incredible experience. The woman who owns manages the place with her husband, incredible. We had the usual Brooklyn townie conversation while I dropped my bike off for the first tuneup in 4 years. We moved on to talking about modifications and looking at new bikes. I was vehemently instructed NOT to spend money.
The tuneup was perfect. The thing rides better than the day I got it. Cleaned it up, fixed a reflector added a bike stand. Best prices I’ve seen around the area. I couldn’t be a happier customer. They have all of my future business. Please drop in and check this shop out.
Woke up in a wonderful mood today. I had pinged the blogosphere for feedback on the look and feel of this site yesterday before heading out for the evening. I checked my analytics this morning and the link received about 80 click throughs. Not bad. Of course only got one piece of feedback from a friend looking to get started on building a site. Definitely excited to help.
‘Bout to head to the bike shop and see how the tune-up went. Can’t wait to break it in. Beautiful weather out today. Time to get the regiment in full swing!
Excited about this Saturday. Going to be a full card all day. 9:15am I will be setting off on the bike route below. I’m nervous because it’s been a while since I’ve done anything this long. Tomorrow the bike gets a tuneup. Going to do about 10 mi. Saturday will be over 20. I’m a dead man.
Just going to be taking notes as i work on the trifecta-
- my intellect (the mind) through studies of language, history, science, travel, politics, finance..
- my physical temple (the body) through nutrition, exercise, my bike, meditation, martial arts, energy..
- my metaphysical existence (the soul) through philosophy, animals, photography, music, art, relationships..
I’ll probably use the word paradigm a lot. I promise it will be in context most of the time. Say 90%? Methods may include straight blog posting of stream of conciousness, uploads of hand written journal entries, sharing of online multimedia, links to sources of knowledge and inspiration, fortune cookies, cell phone pix, sappy music that has me feeling one way or another, complete and utter brilliance.
Apologies to the webbots while I get this site set up.
